Harley

May 19, 2008

Harley was a little 8 year old male that was turned into rescue because his human family didn't think that he was active enough. It was determined that our sweet little Harley was diabetic. He was being regulated and it has been our experience that once regulated, diabetics can live a long life. He was a very precious little boy that needs a chance in life.

Harley's sugar was well on it's way to being regulated. He ate a high fiber food that is easy to find and did very well with that and his medicine every day.

He was the sweetest little guy you could ever meet! He did well with his house training, and slept in his crate at night. He had a healthy appetite and loved to be petted and made over.

Harley developed Cataracs, he had some trouble seeing, but developed his other senses to get around without to much trouble.

Harley was a quiet and well manered little gentelman, just waiting for that special someone to take him home and love him!

Harley was being fostered in N.W. Ohio by Doug but he lost his fight with diabetes and what I think was that canine flu.

Doug helped dear Harley over to the bridge where he is now disease free and has gone to the Bridge with all the rest of our furbabies.

Go in peace, sweet little guy.

Sadly missed by

Schnauzer Rescue Cincinnati

& his foster dad, Doug.

Their Spirit Still Survives

They will not go quietly,
the dogs who have shared our lives.
In subtle ways they let us know,
their spirit still survives.

Old habits still make us think,
we hear a scratch at the door.
Or step back when we drop,
a tasty morsel on the floor.

Our feet still go around the place,
where the food dish used to be.
And sometimes coming home at night,
we miss them so terribly.

And although time may bring,
new friends and new food dish to fill.
That one place in our heart still belongs,
to them and always will.
