A Kitty’s Thanks

I know you’re feeling sad,
but there’s no need to be —
even if I can’t be there, purring
and rubbing around your feet.

I’ve still got a windowsill,
and warm places in the sun.
Though no one really owns a cat,
for me, you were the one.

I know my time had come
and know that you did, too.
Please don’t think you did me wrong.
You did what you had to do.

You may be feeling guilty
that my life is at its end,
but please don’t feel that way.
Through memories, you’ll always be my friend.

My big boy and his sister came to me when I needed something in my life. Sure we fought for the first day or so until you finally figured out where the food was coming from.

Since then you were my protector, my foot warmer, lap warmer and my warm fuzzy lard butt. You grew to a whopping 30 lbs. and I loved every pound of you. I only wish I knew what you were telling me that day. Please forgive me...I did not know it was your time to go.

You came back to me in Little Man, and I see some of your actions in him. The way he gets up in my face and rubs like you did.The way he eats and likes his special dish.

Your sister misses you as well as Kitty Kay, Bruce and Stubbs. I know you will be there when I get to the rainbow bridge. I love you big boy and you will always have a spot in my heart. I know Kitty Kay will join you soon so take care of her and protect her.

Love you mom.
