Only a Whisper Away.

I haven't gone and left you,
I'm here, but you can't see
How close I am beside you,
Yes Mum, it's really me.

Thank you for your kindness,
You've freed me from all pain,
I know you're sad, but don't be,
Soon we'll meet again.

Death is really not the end,
It's just a passing on
Into a world of brightness,
Where fear and pain is gone.

I'm free to run around and play
Just like I used to do.
Until we meet again Mum,
I'll wait here just for you

God's Call

God looked around His garden
and found an empty space,
He then looked upon the earth
and saw your tired face.

He put His arms around you
to give you needed rest,
knowing that His garden
is where you'd do the best.

He knew that you were suffering,
He knew you were in pain.
He knew that through His endless love,
your faith He could sustain.

He saw the road was rough,
the hills so hard to climb,
so He closed your weary eyelids,
and whispered,
Peace be Thine.

It broke our hearts to lose you,
but you do not go alone,
for part of us went with you
the day God called you home.

A Face In The Clouds

We looked towards the clouds today
and for a moment saw your face,
And wondered just where you have gone,
with a hope it's a better place.

Did you show yourself to us today,
to tell us you're alright?
Or was it just a daydream,
playing tricks upon our sight?

Then we thought of when you left,
you did not say a word,
No hugs and kisses.. no good-bye was heard.

You have changed our lives forever,
your time here not in vain,
And hope you know we always tried
to keep you safe from pain.

We will always feel the void inside,
because you are not here,
But each new thought you send our way
lets us know you're always near.

So until our journey nears its end,
and we hear the angels sing,
We'll face each new day as it comes,
and live off the love you bring.

I Wanted To Go

Each time I left, you wanted to go,
I'd pick up my keys and you would know.
Your whole body shook, your eyes had that gleam,
"A ride in the truck, oh please take me!"

So many times that you couldn't go,
I'd try to explain, so you would know.
"Not today baby, you have to stay,
I'm going to work, there's no place to play."

"Another day baby, no dogs in the store",
All of those reasons and so many more.
And when I came home, there you'd be,
Waiting in the window, watching for me.

Today I told you, "Let's go for a ride",
As ever before, you came to my side.
We got in the truck, I buckled your belt,
No gleam in your eyes, you sensed what I felt.

We arrived at the office and went inside,
My mind was racing, "This was our last ride.
The Bridge is waiting, please find your way there,
The others will help you and treat you with care."

I held you close to calm your fears,
My whole body shook, my eyes filled with tears.
You took your last breath and I want you to know,
This time you left me.....and I wanted to go.

Touch Me
by Susan Krauser 2002

Touch me with your voice as a puppy young and new,
And let me know my presence is what is pleasing you.

Touch me with your spirit, for God sent me here to you,
To teach you of that precious bond known by the choicest few.

Touch me with your hands as I grow tall and strong,
I need you as my mentor through out my whole life long.

Touch me with your lips, and brush them softly on my brow,
Please kiss away the fears that I am feeling now.

Touch me with your eyes as I become full grown,
To validate unspoken love that we have always known.

Touch me with your heart as our bond keeps growing stronger
And words need not be used in our language any longer.

Touch me with your breath, so soft and warm upon my face,
As I try to bring you comfort in life's never ending race.

Touch me with your love when my muzzle turns to gray,
I live my life to please you, each and every single day.

Touch me with your scent when age has dimmed my sight,
To reassure me always that you will be my light.

Touch me with your face when your tears are meant for me,
So I may bear your pain and let your heart be free.

Touch me with remembrance when I have traveled on,
And, I will hold your heart in mine forever when I'm gone.

Winter of Life

Lord, he is old and weakened,
He walks where he used to run,
In his youth he was always a happy dog,
Now he sleeps his days away in the sun.

Please make his trail mostly level
As he travels these last few miles,
Provide shade away from the heat of day
Where he can stop and rest for awhile.

If it rains let the drops be gentle,
If it blows let the breeze be warm,
Let the winter of life be kind,
Provide shelter and keep him from harm.

Please Lord, if he must suffer,
Give the pain and hurting to me,
He has been thru lifes raging waters,
As only a mans dog can be.

He doesnt deserve to be hurting,
He has lived a hard and long time,
I hope as he leaves he'll be knowing
Your love, as he has always known mine.

I raised him, Lord, from a puppy
We have followed some rough rocky trails,
Please Lord, Make this last trail gentle,
As he come to where love never fails.
